Kosher

Long serviced by a single meat market, the local community has witnessed a new phenomenon -- local supermarkets featuring fresh Kosher meat.  Competition for the Kosher consumer has been fierce.  In short order, Belden's supermarket, Kroger's Signature Store, and Randalls supermarket all have their own Kosher Shoppes.  The winners are local consumers, who watched with bated breath as prices for Kosher food have dropped precipitously.  The supermarkets feature fresh deli, a wide variety of meats (beef, veal, lamb, poultry), a huge selection of kosher cheese, fresh baked breads and bakery items, salads and hot rotisserie grilled chickens which can be taken home or enjoyed at eat-in areas of the store.  Kroger's also features whole Kosher fish, and has a special Kosher cutting board with kosher knives so you can have your fish filleted right there on the premises.  In addition, several of the H-E-B supermarkets offer whole frozen Rubashkin / Aaron's chicken and selected varieties of meat in sealed packages at very competitive prices!

Kosher Restaurants & Bakeries

If you don't feel like eating at home, you have several options.  Kosher establishments include the following:

Kroger has an eat-in area where you can enjoy freshly prepared deli sandwiches and salads, or a roasted chicken served hot right off the rotisserie, as well as freshly fried chicken right out of the deep fryer.  Kroger also has a Kosher Fish market and a delicious Bakery right on the premises.

Madras Pavilion Restaurant, a vegetarian Indian restaurant offers exotic Indian specialties. Their buffet of "all-you-can-eat" lunches attracts Jewish professionals working nearby, and is a favorite spot for "Lunch & Learn" shiurim that many of our members frequent.

New York Bagel Shop (only the bagel shop is Kosher; the adjoining restaurant is not) features old-fashioned bagels, pastries, and Challah baked right on the premises.  If you shop in the early A.M., be cautious before biting in, chances are the bagel will be piping HOT!

Nosher's: Currently exists as Take-Out only, serving American cuisine, soups, salads and sandwiches. Middle Eastern cuisine is available if ordered in advance. All of the meat is Glatt Kosher.

Randalls has an eat-in area where you can enjoy freshly prepared deli sandwiches and salads, or a roasted chicken served hot right off the rotisserie, as well as freshly fried chicken right out of the deep fryer, egg rolls, fries and onion rings.  Randalls also offers fresh Kosher Sushi made on the premises.  Their in-store bakery is Pas Yisrael.

Saba’s features fresh baked pizzas, falafel, sandwiches, Mediterranean salads, lasagna, and other dairy dishes.  They also offer Sushi made daily with fresh fish.

Super-Pita Bakery and Deli, located on Hillcroft near S. Braeswood,  specializes in fresh pita and other baked goods and food items.  This is a Pareve, Shomer Shabbos and Pas Yisrael bakery.

Suzie's Grill is a Glatt Kosher  meat restaurant that is Shomer shabbos with a mashgiach timidi.  They are pas yisrael, bishul yisrael per Rema, with bet Yoseph available on request.  Their menu includes Mediterranean, Mexican, and American-style dishes.

Three Brother's Bakery: (S. Braeswood west of Stella Link store only.  Sugarland and River Oaks stores are NOT under supervision.)  The S.Braeswood store is under HKA supervision.  This store includes Pareve bread products as well as Pareve and dairy cakes.
