Robert M. Beren Academy prepares its graduates to become confident, well-educated Jews. Nearly all have gone on to further education, many at some of the nation’s top universities and colleges through-out the United States and Israel, including Harvard University, Columbia University, Princeton, Yeshiva University, Bar Ilan University, and Hebrew University. Scores leave Robert M. Beren Academy with impressive academic honors, including National Merit Scholars.

Robert M. Beren Academy graduates excel as doctors and lawyers, educators and writers, artists and scientists, communal workers and rabbis. Our graduates maintain a deep connection to Jewish custom and a desire to strengthen it. Many graduates are active in synagogue life, philanthropic endeavors, and chesed organizations. Abrah Mintz Bessler, Ph.D. Abrah Mintz Bessler was part of then Hebrew Academy’s first graduation class in 1984. She earned a B.A. in psychology from Queens College and received her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from New York University. She completed post-doctoral training in clinical neuropsychology at Columbia University and she currently maintains a private practice in New Jersey. She is an active member of AMIT and serves on her synagogue board of directors. In addition, she serves on the Education Committee of Yavneh Academy in Paramus, New Jersey, where her children attend school. Todd Brody, J.D. Todd Brody graduated from Hebrew Academy in 1986. He went on to earn a B.A. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law. He serves as partner in the New York office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a multi-national law firm. He is active in his synagogue and serves on several committees. Ari...

Long serviced by a single meat market, the local community has witnessed a new phenomenon -- local supermarkets featuring fresh Kosher meat. Competition for the Kosher consumer has been fierce. In short order, Belden's supermarket, Kroger's Signature Store, and Randalls supermarket all have their own Kosher Shoppes. The winners are local consumers, who watched with bated breath as prices for Kosher food have dropped precipitously. The supermarkets feature fresh deli, a wide variety of meats (beef, veal, lamb, poultry), a huge selection of kosher cheese, fresh baked breads and bakery items, salads and hot rotisserie grilled chickens which can be taken home or enjoyed at eat-in areas of the store. Kroger's also features whole Kosher fish, and has a special Kosher cutting board with kosher knives so you can have your fish filleted right there on the premises. What is the Annual Scholarship Campaign?

Over fifty per cent of our student body at Robert M. Beren Academy benefit from our excellent program and curriculum because of our generous tuition assistance program. These students depend on the Annual Scholarship Campaign and its generous donors, and without it, would not able to attend Robert M. Beren Academy.

The Annual Scholarship Campaign is comprised of donations received throughout the year by board members, current and former parents, alumni, current and former grandparents, faculty, staff and friends in the greater community.

Why should I give?

Every gift counts. It is through gifts -- small and large --that we raise the necessary funds to ensure that every Jewish child that comes to our doors has the opportunity to receive a high quality Jewish and general studies education regardless of financial ability.

Last year, we distributed over $1.1 million in financial aid, and the demands for assistance continue to grow. It is essential that Robert M. Beren Academy raise the necessary funds to ensure that every student who wishes to attend Robert M. Beren Academy may do so regardless of financial ability.

FINANCIAL AID POLICY FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2010-2011 Our goal This memo serves to inform you of the school’s Financial Aid Policy for the academic year 2010-2011. It continues to be a goal of Robert M. Beren Academy (RMBA) that the children of those families who are in need of financial aid should not be deprived of a Jewish education. This policy also recognizes that even those most in need of assistance have some minimum responsibility toward the cost of their child(rens) education. Financial Aid is a privilege, not a right. RMBA receives no special subsidy or stipend from outside sources to enable this aid. All amounts granted for financial aid are simply fewer funds that RMBA receives in tuition, and this has an impact upon the operation of the school. Financial aid cap For the academic year 2010-2011, RMBA will attempt to cap (limit) the total amount of financial aid to approximately $1,000,000.
