RMBA is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Early Childhood Assistant to join our team to support the Lead Teacher in fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for young students. The Assistant will play a key role in promoting the social, emotional, and academic growth of children while embracing the values of Jewish education. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons, both in academic subjects (such as literacy, math, science) and Jewish studies (such as Hebrew, Jewish holidays, and values).
- Support students in their social, emotional, and academic development, providing individualized or small group support as needed.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, outdoor play, lunch, and other transitions throughout the school day.
- Help with classroom management, ensuring a positive and respectful environment for all students.
- Prepare classroom materials, displays, and resources for lessons and activities.
- Encourage and support students in developing their social skills, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
- Assist in the implementation of classroom routines, rituals, and Jewish traditions.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and parent-teacher conferences as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with the Lead Teacher and other staff members regarding student progress and classroom needs.
- Promote Jewish values, holidays, and customs within the classroom setting.
- Provide general classroom support, including setting up and cleaning up activities, assisting with classroom technology, and helping with administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred).
- Previous experience working with young children, particularly in a Kindergarten or early childhood setting and experience in a • Jewish educational environment is a plus.
- Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education principles.
- Ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, and colleagues.
- Passion for working with young children and fostering a love of learning.
- Knowledge of Jewish traditions and practices is highly preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Hebrew language and culture to students in Grades 9-12, fostering fluency, comprehension, and an appreciation for Hebrew as both a modern language and a key component of Jewish identity. The ideal candidate will inspire students to engage deeply with the Hebrew language, both inside and outside the classroom, and create an immersive and dynamic learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Design & Instruction:
• Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in Hebrew, focusing on speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.
• Teach Hebrew across different proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced, including advanced topics such as Israeli literature, history, and culture.
• Integrate cultural and historical elements into language lessons to provide context and deepen students’ understanding of Hebrew and Israeli society.
• Utilize innovative teaching methods and technology (e.g., digital tools, multimedia resources) to enhance student learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students. - Classroom Management:
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, collaboration, and active participation.
• Maintain high expectations for student behavior, academic progress, and the use of Hebrew in the classroom. - Assessment & Feedback:
• Regularly assess student progress through a combination of oral exams, written assignments, class participation, and projects.
• Provide constructive feedback to students on their language skills and work to support their growth in Hebrew proficiency.
• Track and report on student performance, and communicate regularly with parents regarding progress. - Advisory Role:
• Serve as an advisor to a group of students, providing academic guidance and mentorship.
• Support students' emotional and social growth through regular advisory meetings and individual support. - Professional Development:
• Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in language education and Hebrew pedagogy.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the language department and across the school to develop interdisciplinary lessons and projects. - Community Engagement:
• Actively contribute to the school’s Hebrew and Jewish cultural events, such as Israeli Independence Day celebrations, Shabbat programming, and other community-building activities.
• Foster a connection to the broader Jewish community through student engagement in Hebrew language events and activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hebrew Language, Jewish Studies, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience teaching Hebrew at the high school level is preferred.
• Strong command of Hebrew, both written and spoken.
• Familiarity with modern pedagogical methods and proficiency in using technology in the classroom.
• Experience with language immersion techniques and a communicative approach to teaching Hebrew is a plus. - Skills & Attributes:
